In addition to housing over a hundred monks from India, Nepal and Tibet, Tergar Monastery functions as the headquarters for the annual Kagyu Monlam and the temporary residence of His Holiness Orgyen Trinley Dorje, the 17th Karmapa. Teachings by Yongey Mingyur Rinpoche and other lamas of the Kagyu lineage are held following the monlam each year.
